About Purchasing Used Equipment
As tempting as it may be to seemingly save a bundle by purchasing used - from an individual, liquidation sale, or off the auction block - consider the following:
A. Who is going to support it?
B. Is the manufacturer still in business?
C. How old is the unit, can you still find parts for it?
D. What was its life like up until now? For instance, did it receive scheduled maintenance, who initially built the
cell and did they know what they were doing?
E. Is the seller going to stand behind the used robot by offering a warranty?
Sadly, at least a few times a year, we are called out to perform programming or repairs on the deals that were found at bargain basement prices, only to inform the end user that the repair bill will exceed the value of the system or even worse the repair cannot be made due to parts no longer being available. Know what you are buying. Know who you are buying it from.
If you have already found a robot or even a complete system, Streamline Robotics & Tooling, Inc. is available to inspect the equipment before you purchase it and can even aid in relocating and redeploying it at the new end user's facility.
